A major part of a person's childhood revolves around recreational activities. When such recreational activities can combine social, academic and moral values, the experience as a whole becomes stronger and more influential. A healthy childhood paves the way for a successful adulthood.

At the Girls Club of Alachua County, the staff and board of directors strive to create bright futures for all members. For many girls, the Girls Club is the only opportunity to enjoy safe and fun activities in a nurturing environment. Since the Girls Club recognizes girls from many diverse economic backgrounds, local supporters help ensure the attendance of those children less fortunate than others. The Girls Club receives childcare referrals from several state and county organizations including the Department of Children and Families, the Guardian ad Lidem program and the Early Learning Coalition. Unfortunately, without the help of local donors, the Girls Club cannot afford to provide the healthy environment, valuable skills and self-esteem of which all young girls are worthy.

The Girls Club is always accepting contributions in order to make improvements to programs and facilities. In addition, please know that many at-risk families request supplemented rates at the Girls Club. Some family members come to the Girls Club in times of need when the only other option is to leave a child home alone. In order to prevent such dangerous situations, the Girls Club seeks community assistance. Your thoughtfulness is truly appreciated.
